Opal Creek Expeditions offers guided backpacking, rafting, and paddle trips for youth, focusing on backcountry skills, confidence, and environmental stewardship.
Summer youth expeditions are available for ages 10-17, with both 4-day and 7-day options in Oregon’s wilderness, and include all group gear and meals.
Programs launch from Salem with shuttle service from Portland, and expeditions take place in various Oregon backcountry locations including the Ochoco, Strawberry, and Elkhorn mountains.

Get ready for an amazing four-day adventure on the Willamette River with Opal Creek and Willamette Riverkeeper! Paddle down a scenic stretch of calm, flat water while learning the essentials of multi-day canoe travel with our experienced guides. Swim in the river, explore sandbar camps, and spot incredible wildlife like chinook salmon, steelhead trout, beavers, otters, and osprey. This expedition is the perfect way to cool off, connect with nature, and build lasting friendships while discovering the beauty and excitement of Oregon’s local waterways!
