NW Film Camp offers filmmaking camps for kids and teens interested in learning the art and craft of film production.
Summer programs include week-long day camps for ages 8-11 (Creator Camp) and 12-17 (Filmmaker Camp), covering scriptwriting, filming, editing, and collaborative storytelling.
Camps are held at the World Forestry Center in Washington Park, a central location in southwest Portland.
Our Advanced Camps offer a challenging and rewarding experience for aspiring filmmakers, providing opportunities to create projects suitable for scholarships, grants, film festivals, education applications, and digital portfolios. Students gain hands-on production experience with professional equipment, on-set protocol training, and expert guidance in a supportive environment. In our one-week Cinematic Filmmaking Camp, older students dive into the art of storytelling by producing a short film from screenplay to final edit, using Canon C100 cinema cameras, grip and lighting equipment, and advanced editing software. Alumni are invited to join the Teen Filmmaker Lab in 2025 at no cost and become eligible for internships and production opportunities.
