Vibe of Portland is a nonprofit organization providing accessible art and music education for youth.
Each summer, Vibe offers half-day and full-day art camps for children ages 5–14, encouraging imaginative thinking and creative exploration.
Programs are held at Vibe Studios in southeast Portland and at community locations throughout the city.
About the activity:
Artists will explore the power of sound alongside the value of craftsmanship by creating their own instruments from repurposed materials that we can typically find in our home.
From kalimbas made out of bobby pins to zithers made out of shoe boxes & more, artists will learn and utilize instrument building techniques that mirror those created by musicians hundreds of years ago.
