About the activity:

Spring begins beneath the surface, and this immersive, hands-on STEM program invites children to dig deep into the hidden world below their feet. In this engaging biology and environmental science experience, participants will examine and compare different soil types, explore soil layers and decomposition, and use a microscope to observe the microorganisms that bring soil to life. Young scientists will also discover what plants truly need to grow and learn the key differences between plant and human cells. Set against the energy of March’s renewal—longer days, warming earth, and buzzing pollinators—this small-group Friday program blends outdoor exploration, scientific experimentation, and meaningful connection to spark curiosity about the natural systems that support life.
