Fern & Fir is a dynamic nature-based learning program that offers immersive outdoor education for children who thrive in hands-on, experiential environments. About the activity:

This spring, children are invited to slow down, explore, and build real-world skills through a hands-on, nature-based learning experience rooted in seasonal renewal. In this calm and engaging Friday program, participants will start a seed germination project to take home, learn to identify common spring “weeds” and discover their edible and medicinal uses, and even create a natural plantain poultice. Young makers will also carve a pocket-sized butter knife or mini wood tool (with age-appropriate supervision) and safely experiment with pyrography to personalize their project. Blending outdoor exploration, practical STEM learning, seasonal crafts, and meaningful connection, this small-group program celebrates longer days, warming soil, and the quiet magic of early spring while fostering patience, confidence, and craftsmanship.
