Vibe of Portland is a nonprofit organization providing accessible art and music education for youth.
Each summer, Vibe offers half-day and full-day art camps for children ages 5–14, encouraging imaginative thinking and creative exploration.
Programs are held at Vibe Studios in southeast Portland and at community locations throughout the city.
About the activity:
In this camp, students will design and build soft sculptures using fabric, yarn, stuffing, and an exciting buffet of mixed materials. Campers will explore form, texture, and structure while creating imaginative creatures, abstract shapes, and artworks meant to be touched and held. We will learn basic techniques like hand sewing, embroidery, finger knitting, weaving and more to build our creations. Projects emphasize creativity and problem solving with plenty of room for independent idea exploration.
