S.H.I.N.E. Art Camp is a week-long multimedia art experience hosted at Rose City Community Collective, designed for young artists who want to explore expressive artmaking, learn new techniques, and create in a welcoming, inclusive environment. S.H.I.N.E. stands for Support, Harmony, Inclusion, Nurture, and Expression, values that guide the camp’s structure, culture, and creative approach. Campers work across both 2D and 3D mediums, experimenting with a wide range of materials while developing confidence in their creative voice. Throughout the week, campers create custom sketchbooks and journals using bookbinding, collage, and drawing techniques, giving them a personal space to develop and reflect on their ideas. Painting and mixed-media projects introduce concepts like color, composition, layering, and texture, while collage and assemblage invite artists to combine found objects and hand-drawn elements into bold, personal works. Daily artist spotlights introduce contemporary and historical artists whose work reflects creativity, resilience, and self-expression, helping campers see new possibilities in both art and process. Above all, S.H.I.N.E. emphasizes creative community, offering a supportive space where young artists can share ideas, explore identity through art, and build meaningful connections through collaboration and conversation.
