About the activity:

Guided by teaching artist and filmmaker Sahar Al-Sawaf, this dynamic camp invites youth ages 11–14 to turn inspiration from art, dreams, and film into original animated stories through collaboration and creativity. Campers will create animated shorts using paper cutouts, rotoscoping, and digital tools, filming scenes with iPads and experimenting with stop motion, layering, and coloring printed frames. They’ll explore found images and online resources to design textures, backgrounds, and environments inspired by contemporary artists, then use iMovie and stop motion apps to develop, edit, and refine their animations as a team. The week culminates in a showcase where campers proudly share their imaginative worlds and original films with friends and family, celebrating teamwork, creative problem-solving, and the magic of animation.
