The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) in Portland, Oregon, is a leading science center offering interactive exhibits, hands-on learning activities, and educational programs for all ages. Visitors can explore diverse exhibit halls, including the Turbine Hall, Life Sciences Hall, and Earth Science Hall, each featuring engaging displays and laboratories. OMSI also houses the Kendall Planetarium, one of the most technologically advanced planetariums in the Pacific Northwest, and the USS Blueback Submarine, a retired U.S. Navy submarine open for guided tours.
Share your love for the Pacific Northwest while making international friends! As an OMSI Ambassador, you’ll guide a group of young adults from Japan on a two-week journey through the stunning ecosystems of California’s Redwoods and the Oregon Coast. Hike, camp, and explore while exchanging pop culture, food, and traditions. This unique opportunity is perfect for mature, friendly, and helpful high school students who enjoy outdoor adventures and have an interest in other cultures. As a peer leader, you’ll represent your community while creating unforgettable memories. With intermediate physical activity, the program takes place at the Coastal Discovery Center at Camp Gray in Newport, Oregon, with transportation to and from OMSI. Check-in is at 7 a.m. on the first day, and pick-up is at 5 p.m. on the last day.
