The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) in Portland, Oregon, is a leading science center offering interactive exhibits, hands-on learning activities, and educational programs for all ages. Visitors can explore diverse exhibit halls, including the Turbine Hall, Life Sciences Hall, and Earth Science Hall, each featuring engaging displays and laboratories. OMSI also houses the Kendall Planetarium, one of the most technologically advanced planetariums in the Pacific Northwest, and the USS Blueback Submarine, a retired U.S. Navy submarine open for guided tours.
Explore the breathtaking Alps of Oregon on OMSI’s most challenging high-elevation backpacking trip! Trek through the stunning Wallowa Mountains, traversing rugged alpine terrain while learning about glacial geology, wilderness survival, and orienteering with a map and compass. Designed for those in good physical condition, this adventure features long days of uphill and downhill hiking with a heavy pack. Along the way, practice low-impact camping and deepen your knowledge of alpine ecology in one of Oregon’s most spectacular landscapes. Prior backpacking experience is recommended, and routes may vary based on trail and campsite conditions. With challenging physical activity, the camp takes place in the Eagle Cap Wilderness, with transportation to and from OMSI. Check-in is at 7 a.m. on the first day, and pick-up is at 5 p.m. on the last day.
