Portland Chinese Lessons
Portland Chinese Lessons offers Mandarin language instruction for children and adults, led by an experienced teacher with a background in East Asian Studies and Chinese Literature.
Each summer, Portland Chinese Lessons hosts Chinese Language and Cooking Camps for children ages nine and up, combining Mandarin immersion with hands-on cooking activities.
Camps and classes are held in NE Portland, with additional after-school programs at elementary schools in the Alameda, Irvington, and Abernethy neighborhoods.
About the activity:
Sharpen Mandarin language skills while mastering authentic Chinese cooking techniques at this immersive summer day camp. Young chefs learn to saute, deep fry, steam, and pickle traditional dishes taught entirely in Mandarin. Parents are invited to taste the day's creations from 3:00-3:30 PM each afternoon. Prior knife and kitchen skills required.
