The Blosser Center for Dyslexia Resources, located in Portland, Oregon, is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with dyslexia through personalized instruction and teacher training. Founded in 2000 by Dorothy Blosser Whitehead, a nationally recognized leader in reading specialist standards, the center utilizes the Orton-Gillingham approach to provide structured, multisensory tutoring that enhances reading, spelling, and comprehension skills. As the only independent center in the Northwest accredited by the Orton-Gillingham Academy, the Blosser Center also offers diagnostic testing, referrals, and intensive one-on-one tutoring, aiming to unlock the full potential of each student and foster a lifelong love of learning.

About the activity:

Keep learning fun this summer with Rev Up Your Reading! Every July, The Blosser Center offers a dynamic 4-week program for rising 1st to 6th graders, designed to prevent the "summer slide" in reading and writing. With personalized one-on-one tutoring from Orton-Gillingham trained instructors, small group writing sessions, arts & crafts, science, and outdoor activities, kids build skills, confidence, and friendships—all while having a blast!
