Vibe of Portland is a nonprofit organization providing accessible art and music education for youth.
Each summer, Vibe offers half-day and full-day art camps for children ages 5–14, encouraging imaginative thinking and creative exploration.
Programs are held at Vibe Studios in southeast Portland and at community locations throughout the city.
About the activity:
Fluent Spanish speakers are warmly welcome—this camp includes the option for Spanish-language immersion with a bilingual teaching artist.
We all know a kid who takes toys apart to see how they work, so we made an exciting class with them in mind. We are going to learn how to make art that moves! We’ll go over several mechanisms and use simple materials so you can continue exploring if you want. It will be hands-on, entertaining, and require patience and attention to detail. See you there!
Guided by our teaching artists, we'll explore basic engineering concepts in addition to working with different materials, and bring mechanical creations to life. From buzzing bots to dancing gizmos, each day promises a new adventure in the exciting realm of automaton creation.
