Portland Chinese Lessons
Portland Chinese Lessons offers Mandarin language instruction for children and adults, led by an experienced teacher with a background in East Asian Studies and Chinese Literature.
Each summer, Portland Chinese Lessons hosts Chinese Language and Cooking Camps for children ages nine and up, combining Mandarin immersion with hands-on cooking activities.
Camps and classes are held in NE Portland, with additional after-school programs at elementary schools in the Alameda, Irvington, and Abernethy neighborhoods.
About the activity:
Explore authentic Chinese culinary traditions at this hands-on week-long cooking day camp in Portland. Kids practice sauteing, deep frying, steaming, and pickling traditional Chinese dishes with instruction in both Mandarin and English. Each afternoon wraps up with a family tasting from 3:00-3:30 PM. Prior knife and kitchen experience required.
