Experiment PDX is an interactive science and art museum offering hands-on exhibits, creative workshops, and community events for all ages.
Each summer, Experiment PDX hosts S.T.E.A.M.-focused camps and classes for children, with programming designed for a range of school-age kids.
The museum is located in Portland’s Buckman neighborhood in Southeast Portland.
About the activity:
The day kicks off with LEGO Robotics using the LEGO Education Spike Essential kits and curriculum, an absolutely brilliant way to introduce kids to coding and robotics while sneakily teaching them teamwork. After lunch we dive into a fun craft project, an interactive science hour (cue explosions and oohs and aahs), and finally, story time. Our instructors read aloud from age-appropriate books, giving the kids a chance to do some quiet activities. During lunch and snack breaks, the kiddos get free rein over our interactive exhibits—because who doesn’t want to mess with marble runs, simple machines, pendulums, electrical circuits, and microscopes? Oh, and don’t forget the MagnaTiles, chess set, and more.
