Portland Fashion Institute
Portland Fashion Institute is a nationally accredited nonprofit college focused on fashion design and apparel industry skills.
Each summer, PFI offers hands-on fashion and sewing camps and workshops for teens ages 13–18, including upcycling, t-shirt transformation, and beginner-friendly design sessions.
Programs are held at the PFI campus in Portland’s Hollywood neighborhood.
About the activity:
Young makers ages 8-14 learn machine sewing fundamentals and create wearable garments and accessories in Katy's PlayHouse workshops at Portland Fashion Institute. Each Wednesday session features a unique hands-on project—from reversible tote bags and hair scrunchies to aprons and kimono tops—with all fabric, thread, and materials included. A 4-session membership pass ($550) is also available. Sessions are limited to 10 students and conclude with a fashion show celebration.
