The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) in Portland, Oregon, is a leading science center offering interactive exhibits, hands-on learning activities, and educational programs for all ages. Embark on an unforgettable adventure combining backcountry camping and a thrilling whitewater expedition on the John Day River! Hike through rugged landscapes, camp under the stars, and then set out on the water in inflatable kayaks, navigating rapids with expert guides from Ouzel Outfitters. Along the way, admire towering basalt formations, spot wildlife, and discover what makes this river so special. Each night, unwind at a riverside campsite with warm meals and breathtaking views. Prior experience paddling a kayak or small watercraft is recommended, but all camping and river gear is provided. With challenging physical activity, the camp takes place at Hancock Field Station in Fossil, Oregon, with transportation to and from OMSI. Check-in is at 7 a.m. on the first day, and pick-up is at 5 p.m. on the last day.
