About the activity:

Gales Creek Camp is a vibrant summer haven for children and teens with type 1 diabetes from across the Pacific Northwest, offering a place where "a type 1 isn't the only 1." Through classic camp activities like swimming, games, arts, drama, hiking, and campfires, campers enjoy a fun-filled experience while forging meaningful connections with peers and mentors who share similar challenges. Beyond the fun, campers begin to build confidence and self-reliance, learning vital self-care habits such as testing blood sugar, administering injections, or managing insulin pump sites. They also explore how food, exercise, sports, stress, and illness interact with diabetes, all in a supportive environment. By blending adventure, friendship, and education, Gales Creek Camp helps campers grow toward active, independent lives.
